The Episcopal House of Prayer is an independent, interfaith ministry located at the geographical heart of the state in Collegeville, MN.
Our Mission is to assist in the ongoing work of discerning God’s voice, both within ourselves and in the world; provide guidance in the search for wisdom; teach all forms of contemplative prayer; offer training in the inner work of the spiritual life.
The Vision of the Episcopal House of Prayer is to be a contemplative ministry of spiritual transformation, grounded in the Christian tradition, in the practice of Benedictine hospitality, reaching out and welcoming all.
Modern seekers are less organically connected and loyal to institutions, including religious institutions, than any generation before them in American life. The House of Prayer is a “ministry” of the Diocese, yet independent of the Diocese. Part of the House of Prayer’s power resides in its intimate size. Learn more about our Contemplative Body.
We sponsor a number of programs throughout the year in our retreat space in Collegeville and through virtual programming. Our programs are grounded in the practice of Christian contemplative prayer.
The Episcopal House of Prayer is a 13-room retreat house nestled on five acres of maple woods on the edge of the campus of Saint John’s Abbey and University. Integral to the House of Prayer’s offering to seekers is its sacred, natural setting. Our retreat space is also available for rental use by groups.
Since 1990, we have been supporting seekers on the contemplative path. We are a community grounded in practices that help us listen with our hearts to the voice of God, within both ourselves and each other.
The retreat house is a subsidiary of the Episcopal Church of Minnesota. As an independent non-profit, it does not receive financial support from either the Abbey or Episcopal Church of Minnesota. Learn more about our history here.
